THE TREATMENT CONTINUUM OF CARE:

One of the hardest things a parent has to do is to make that first phone call to get help for their child.

When it comes to substance abuse treatment, when you call, the person on the other end of the phone will ask you a number of questions to ensure that your child gets the level of care that is most appropriate, given the specific situation.

In the State of Colorado, a range of services is available to adolescents. Some youth will need a more intense level of care, while others will be able to address their issue in an outpatient setting. Again, it can be very scary for parents making that first call to an agency to discuss this issue, but remember, the person on the other end of the line is committed to helping you find the most appropriate care for your child.

Keep in mind that research shows that treatment is most effective when it lasts for 12 weeks or more. Within that period of time, a person may move through different intensities of treatment.
