The Handyman Program
This program
operates out of Denver and Ft. Collins. This program provides minor home repair and safety services to limited and low-income seniors. Volunteer handymen and women perform simple home repairs and home maintenance jobs such as installing grab bars and handrails to reduce safety hazards and prevent falls and injuries in their homes. The Handyman Program helps Colorado seniors stay safe in their own homes for as long as possible.  |
Home Repair and Rehabilitation Programs
Many organizations throughout the state offer low interest loans and/or grants for home rehabilitation, emergency repairs, weatherization, or accessibility modifications. Most programs are area-specific and your home must be located within their parameters to be eligible. The HERO Alliance cannot guarantee eligibility or fund availability. Please contact each organization for more information, eligibility criteria and fund availability. |

Nursing Home Compare
Visit this website (which is the Medicare site) and assess the performance of the state's 225 nursing homes. People can see quality information such as how many beds are available in the facility, the latest state nursing home inspections results, and how many registered nurses and doctors are on staff. This site is part of the Nursing Home Quality Initiative, an effort of the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Colorado Foundation for Medical Care, Colorado's Quality Improvement Organization for Medicare. This is a campaign to improve the quality of care in nursing homes by publicly reporting quality measures on every Medicare certified nursing home in the state. Click on the Nursing Home Compare link in the middle of the page on the right side, under Search Tools heading. S roll down the page until you see a yellow box that says "Geographic Search, Step 1 of 4," select Colorado in the drop-down list and click on the Next Step button.  |
