Paranormal investigator sees something else in viral Stanley Hotel picture
Many of you shared a "ghostly" picture of the Stanley Hotel we posted on Wednesday. So, we sent that photo to a paranormal expert for his opinion on the authenticity of the picture. He says not only does the photo appear to be legitimate, but the ghost may not have been alone.
Kevin Sampron, a paranormal expert at SPIRIT Paranormal Investigations in Denver, ran the image through a variety of tests and filters. He and his team determined that the image did not appear to be tampered with or Photoshopped. Then they converted the image to black and white, to better see details.
That's when they saw another figure.
"When we blew up the picture, we immediately saw a second anomaly just to the left of the first figure," Sampron said. "To us it looks like the first figure is a lady dressed in black and to the left of her it looks like a child."
He said he and his team think it could be the ghost of a woman and her child.
"You see the child's head clearly outlined over the top of the stair railing," Sampron said.
Sampron and his team used other images of the staircase to compare to the ghost-photo. They wanted to see if the anomaly could have been caused by a light or a reflection.
"We probably rule out about 95 percent what people think are paranormal or ghosts," Sampron said. "Most of the time there's a natural cause for something."
This picture though, he says is the real deal.
"This could be a legitimate ghost, as far as we can tell," Sampron said.
The Rocky Mountain Paranormal Society came to a different conclusion.
"It appears to be nothing more than an image of a person rounding the corner of the first landing on the main staircase," the Society wrote. "The photographer has stated they did not look at the image until the following morning and knowing what we do about human memory, it is not out of the question to conclude that they just did not remember seeing someone when the photo was taken. It is being over analyzed by 'experts' and many conclusions discussed, however using the basic scientific process it is most likely a person on the stairs."
