Need a way to store your Halloween candy this year? This DIY pumpkin candy jar is ready to withstand the outdoors and some hungry hands.
What you need:
- Terra cotta pot and lid
- Spray paint
- Brown acrylic paint
- Small wooden knob
- Artificial leaf
- Halloween decorations
- Industrial strength glue
To get started on this project, take a terra cotta pot and spray paint it the color of your choice. I went with orange glitter and a layer of glow in the dark spray paint, to make it easier for trick or treaters to see at night.
If you use a pot from your yard, make sure to clean it thoroughly before painting.
After the paint dries, it's time to move the project inside.
For the pumpkin stem that will serve as a handle, use a wooden knob and paint it brown. I applied a thin layer a brown paint to let some of the orange glitter show through. But if you are keeping it a solid color, you don't need to spray paint it first.
Let it dry and move onto the terra cotta pot. You can decorate this part any way you'd like. I used stickers and bat cut outs, but you can make a Jack-O-Lantern face. It's really a time to be creative.
Once you are done decorating, it's time to glue the wooden knob to the bottom side of the lid. I used an industrial strength glue to keep it in place.
Add in an artificial leaf and the pumpkin candy jar is ready to go!
