It's a trend popping up in fashion and home decor, tassels are a fun way to freshen up your style.
And you can do it with items you have at home.
What you need:
- Yarn or thread
If you'd like to make your own, start with yarn. Using a piece of card board - lay out a piece of yarn - about 5 to 6 inches in length
Then, take a yarn still attached to the skein and tie it to the yarn on the cardboard.
When it's secured - begin wrapping the yarn around the cardboard. I wrapped mine around about 30 times to get a fuller look.
When you're done, cut the yarn and tie to to the first piece you placed down.
Then remove it from the cardboard. Take another piece of yarn and tie it just below the top, once that piece is secure begin wrapping it around.
To tie it off - I looped it in the yarn inside the wrapped area before tucking under the leftover piece of yarn.
Then, I cut the other end off to complete the tassel. Using a needle and thread I attached them to my living room rug.
If you don't have any time to make the tassels, there are plenty of sizes available online
I was able to order two dozen tassels for less than $10 dollars. I used them to make a few pairs of earrings - using earring hooks and jump rings.
