There's a classroom full of first graders in Douglas County that is making a big difference for one of their classmates.

Hailey is 6-years-old, and she has CFC syndrome. It's a rare genetic condition that most frequently effects the heart.

She's not verbal, and she uses a wheelchair.

Hailey can't read on her own either, but she enjoys it just as much as the rest of her class. So Sage Canyon Elementary School came up with a solution.

Hailey's classmates take turns reading to her every day, and she loves it.

"Because she can't communicate with her words, you can see it in her eyes, with her smile," her teacher Mrs. Joyce told 9NEWS.
