Strasburg High School is for sale. 500 bucks and it's yours.
Did that make you do a double-take?
It's not actually true.
But there's an ad on Craigslist that says it is. It reads, "Due to unfortunate budget cuts, Strasburg High School will be forced to close down later this year... the superintendent, school board and I have all agreed that the best course of action would be to find a buyer interested in buying the building, and the name of the high school."
The ad is written in the words of Principal Jeff Rasp, and his phone number is listed. The real one.
Of course, Next called it.
"It looks like it was posted a couple of weeks ago, I'm assuming, by a student. I don't know that for sure... I think it's kind of clever actually, so I'm not necessarily upset about it, but I'd like to track it down and see where it came from... they did their research well. I'm only disappointed that it's 500 dollars. Maybe my office is, but the school should be worth a little more money than that," Rasp told us.
Principal Rasp says there's nothing to worry about. There are no budget cuts. No issues with money. The school is not for sale.
