Whether your son is a Cub Scout or a Boy Scout, he can thank a fundraiser happening Tuesday for the programs that build up his good character.
The annual sports breakfast raises money for the Boy Scouts – and former Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan is slated to speak to and inspire the boys.
One such scout has already gotten a lot of encouragement from the organization, which serves more than 43,000 youth and volunteers.
Ismael Mugoya was born in Kenya. That’s where his father also served as a scout when he was a boy.
When they came to the U.S., Mugoya’s dad encouraged him to be a scout, telling him about all the positive impacts he could have.
“He told me it was a chance to make a difference in the world, and be a good leader for your younger brothers and younger youth,” Mugoya said.
Tuesday morning’s breakfast will help keep kids like Ismael in scouting.
He receives a scholarship to be part of his troop, giving him experiences he may not otherwise have.
This is the 41st year of the sports breakfast, and is slated for 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Pepsi Center.
