LARIMER COUNTY – After three months Red Mountain Open Space, located north of Fort Collins, will reopen on Thursday, March 1.

According to a Larimer County tweet, the open space closes December through February each year.

Winter weather conditions make the area less enjoyable to the public.

The closure also protects the winter habitats of big game animals, such as mule deer, elk, and bighorn sheep.

Red Mountain Open Space does not require an entrance fee and is open March 1 through November 1, from dawn to dusk.

The open space may experience occasional temporary closures throughout the year due to adverse weather.

More information can be found on the Larimer County website.
