Where in the town is Gregg Moss? Mi Vida Strings

Gregg checks out Mi Vida Strings, a Westminster shop that specializes in creating and repairing string instruments.

From this 1,000-square foot shop in Westminster comes a product coveted by musicians all over the world.

Eric and Michele Trujillo are the owners of Mi Vida Strings, a shop that specializes in creating and repairing string instruments.

In 2010, Eric’s friends and family encouraged him to quit his steady job and pursue his passion – making violins. Eric says becoming an entrepreneur was a scary move.

"My wife had just left her job because we’d just had our third child. We knew if we didn’t make the move then, it wasn’t going to happen.”

Eric apprenticed as a luthier (an artist who makes string instruments) under Richard Kolacny, owner of Kolacny Music and other well-known master luthiers. It takes him about two months to make one from start to finish and his customers come from all over the world.

Eric has created or restored string instruments for the likes of Bob Dylan to members of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. His work also includes offering violin classes for kids and he performs with his band Mabtotet.

Ironically, Eric’s instrument of choice is the saxophone.
