Dietitian: There is no 'perfect' diet for everyone

There is no "perfect" diet, no black or white, but often shades of gray.

KUSA - When it comes to food and diets, I often encounter people who believe that a certain diet or way of eating is the only way to go. The reality is that when it comes to nutrition, there is no "perfect" diet, no black or white, but often shades of gray.

Here are five diet "grays" that I hear all the time.

  1. Gluten free is the way to be!
  2. Nut products shouldn't be considered "healthy."
  3. Fresh fruits and vegetables are always best.
  4. Coconut oil is a health food.
  5. Only shop the perimeter of the grocery store.

Check out the video segment above to learn more about each of these nutrition gray areas!
