Colorado has been blessed with pretty good burger karma lately, a fact strengthened by the following news:
The state's first Shake Shack will open its doors on March 21 in RiNo, the international burger stand announced last week.
The freestanding location at 2995 Larimer Street was built with recycled and sustainable materials, like reclaimed bowling alley lanes on the tabletops.
Included on the menu for the first Colorado location are some local offerings -- a state-exclusive Green Chile CheddarShack, a cheeseburger with shredded white cheddar, marinated green chiles and scallions. There will also be a selection of local frozen custard concretes: Pie Oh My (vanilla custard and a slice of seasonal pie from The Long I Pie Shop), and Glazed Dazed Donut (vanilla custard, salted caramel sauce, chocolate toffee and Glazed and Confuzed banana bread donut).
Guests can wash their burgers down with local brews from Ratio Beerworks, Great Divide Brewing Company, Denver Beer Co., Funkwerks and Odell Brewing Co.
Not a fan of burgers? Shake Shake is also known for its custard, crinkle cut fries and top Vienna beef dogs and chicken sandwiches.
According to a release from the company, the RiNo location will donate 5 percent of sales from its Pie Oh My concrete to Food Bank of the Rockies.
A Highlands Ranch location is also in the works, but the company could not tell us just yet when it plans to open.
As part of a massive overhaul of the shops and restaurants on the mezzanine of Concourse B, Denver International Airport is will also feature another Shake Shack.
Shake Shack currently has more than 60 locations across the country, with several international shacks as well.
