Garfield County — At Garfield County 911 dispatch in Rifle, Michelle Raymond’s job often comes down to timing.

“Every day is something new,” said Raymond.

The job involves getting the right people to the right place at the right time.

But it was a call that doesn’t happen often that had Raymond helping one couple in labor.

“He said contractions are two to three minutes apart and its baby number four, so right then I knew I’m going to have to act quick,” said Raymond.

With time moving fast, Michelle gave the couple instructions over the phone and a baby boy was born five minutes later.

It hit close to home for Raymond, because she’s pregnant as well.

Her baby is expected to arrive in about seven weeks, which is why in a job that’s all about time, she says it was perfect timing being the dispatcher on that baby delivery call.

“I had just gotten on shift - before I even sat down I hit the answer button on the 911 and there it was,” she said. “It was literally right place, right time and I’m honored I got to take the call.
