For those looking to feel some Christmas spirit, The Man Who Invented Christmas is just the ticket.

Telling the story of how Charles Dickens created A Christmas Carol in 1843, the film by Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) stars Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast) as a writer in need of a hit.

After suffering several flops, Dickens knows that money is tight with a wife, children and his father (Game of Thrones’ Jonathan Pryce) dependent on his work.

Dickens decides to write a book about Christmas, but he’s told no one celebrates Christmas anymore.

In the six-week race to get his book published before the holiday, Dickens uses real-life inspiration to create Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), Tiny Tim and the characters the world knows today.

For anyone that loves Christmas and Dickens’ A Christmas Carol in Prose, Being a Ghost-Story of Christmas – or it’s hundreds of adaptations – The Man Who Invented Christmas is a must-see.

If you’re a Christmas movie lover, this film might just end up in your home movie collection.
