One of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit is to check out one of the many markets that pop up during the holiday season.
Unique and local gifts and goodies can be found at these markets.
The Denver Christkindl Market runs from Nov. 18 to Dec. 23. Skyline Park near 16th Street Mall is transformed into a German village full of music, food and gifts. Bavarian musicians perform classic carols, vendors serve traditional German holiday food, like baked apples, gingerbread biscuits, sausages and gluehwein, traditional mulled wine.
The Estes Park Holiday Market is happening Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 and 20, at the Estes Park Conference Center.
There will be a lot of hand-crafted items featured by local vendors at the event from Christmas wreaths and decorations, to handmade rugs, knitted hats and scarves, custom handmade jewelry, and alpaca clothes, and much more. Every hour a drawing will be held and a lucky winner will get a gift certificate to spend with any of the vendors - this weekend only.
The Georgetown Christmas Market is Dec. 3,4,10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 6th Street in Georgetown. The town turns into an old-fashioned Christmas scene with a European marketplace, roasted chestnuts, horse-drawn carriage rides, museum tours, music, visits from Santa and other entertainment.
The Denver Punk Rock Flea Market is Dec. 17 from 12 to 5 p.m. at the Glitter Dome in RiNo. This unique market caters to punk rock culture and will feature vinyl for sale, handmade items, DIY and used clothing, band merchandise, jewelry, vintage items, comics crafts and more. Kids under 12 can get in free, admission for everyone else is five dollars.
Indulge in horse and wagon rides, a holiday market with gift and food vendors, local merchant open houses, live music and a visit from Santa at the South Pearl Street Winterfest. There will be hot adult beverages for the grown-ups and hot chocolate and cider for the kids. An outdoor market will feature a Christmas tree lot, holiday greenery and a farmer's market. The festival is Dec. 2 from 5 to 9 p.m. on South Pearl Street, between Buchtel Boulevard and Evans Avenue in Denver.
The Holiday Art Market in Golden feature local handmade gifts from more than 100 artists. Admission to the market, which is at the Foothills Art Center, is free. The market runs through Dec. 30 and is open every day.
The Christmas Craft Fair in Cripple Creek and Victor is Dec. 9 through 11. Visitors can buy local items and win prizes. Decorated Christmas trees, which are available to buy, will be on display. Kids can make their own handmade gifts, crafts, participate in a scavenger hunt, gingerbread ornament contest and chat with Santa. The town will be transformed into a winter wonderland.
The Denver Holiday Flea Market runs Dec. 2 through 4 at the old Sports Castle building at 1000 Broadway in Denver. There is a kickoff party Dec. 2 that features bottomless holiday beverages, 200 vendors, live music and festive decor.
The town of Minturn will host a Winter Market every Saturday beginning Dec. 3 and ending Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can purchase gourmet foods, gifts, clothing, jewelry, handmade crafts, fine art and more. There will be music and Santa will stop by.
