In Downtown Granby, Sherry Kent is slicing through the busy Thanksgiving holiday season by making pies at Showboat’s Drive by Pie.

“It is the apple pie Olympics time of year,” Kent said.

It’s an establishment where a person can order a pie, then drive up to the window and pick it up.

“People drive up and I hand out pie right out the window, just boom there you go,” Kent said.

She even has an emergency pie hotline in case you need to pick up a pie last minute.

“We give them emergency party kits with plates and forks and napkins and a pie cutter and I think a lot of them get eaten in the back country,” Kent said.

Kent has been selling pies for 20 years, but eight years ago came up with the idea for a pie drive-thru and that’s opened up a delicious business model.

“Last summer it exploded,” Kent said.

She can do the work right out of her house, and just recently started online ordering.

“It’s as easy as pie,” Kent said.
