Denver now has one more app-driven car-sharing service, this one backed by auto manufacturing giant General Motors Co.

The service, known as Maven, makes cars available for short-term rentats (by the hour or by the day) at prices ranging from compacts and sedans starting at $8 an hour to SUVs starting at $14 an hour.

Maven is launching in Denver with several car-pickup locations downtown and in a handful in neighborhoods such as Cherry Creek, University and Highland.

Maven joins similar car-on-demand services already in the market, including Zipcar and Car2go. It is planning a Denver kick-off celebration Thursday night.
