Building a brand by moving a signature event from place to place hasn’t been a commonly accepted strategy since the days of traveling medicine shows. But don’t tell that to Josh Sampson.

When Sampson’s The Big Wonderful opens its fourth season spotlighting local retailers, restaurants, brewers and bands today, it will be at its fourth different location.

Born in the former Sustainability Park in Denver’s River North neighborhood, it spent time last year in Littleton and Aurora as well before settling for 2017 in the Globeville neighborhood site of the former Denver Post printing plant.

For some customers, keeping up with the changing locations and changing schedule of the outdoor flea market/beer festival/bluegrass jam fest would be off-putting enough that they’d just look for something else to do. But Big Wonderful founder Sampson said he’s seen just the opposite response.
