The sun hadn’t risen over downtown Denver buildings and already AOL co-founder Steve Case had delivered his message to Denver TV station reporters: Denver is booming with startups and entrepreneurs creating economic growth, making the thriving city attractive to investors.

It’s a theme the billionaire venture capitalist planned to repeat all day Tuesday as part of a weeklong tour of startup hubs away from the U.S. coasts.

If it seems an obvious message to deliver outside Denver’s newly redeveloped Union Station with construction cranes looming over blocks all around, Case doesn’t think do.

“Most people don’t know the Denver story,” Case said.
