Colorado high school graduation rates up slightly from last year

It's up 0.1 percentage points since 2016, and up 6.6 percent since 2010.

Colorado's high school graduation rate is the highest it has been since 2010, with 79 percent of students graduating in four years, the Colorado Department of Education announced today.

That's up 0.1 percentage points since 2016, and up 6.6 percent since 2010.

“Our steady upward trend is a credit to the teachers, parents and students who are working incredibly hard, but we still have work to do, especially in narrowing the achievement gap,” said Colorado Education Commissioner Katy Anthes. “We see more students who graduate high school with work-ready credentials and who complete several college credits, which means they are ready for next steps after high school to enter higher education, get a living wage job or enter military service.”

Another 10.1 percent are still enrolled in high school, and could graduate within five, six or seven years, the data found.
