The first move in the Colorado Legislature in reaction to the fatal home explosion in Weld County on April 17 surfaced today, when a bill giving public access to gas pipeline maps was introduced by House Democrats.

House Bill 1372— sponsored by state Reps. Mike Foote, D-Lafayette and Steve Lebsock, D-Thornton — was given late-bill status, allowing it to be introduced so close to the end of the session next Wednesday.

The proposal focuses on maps of flow lines carrying natural gas from the well to collection points, according to the Colorado House Democrats office.

The bill was scheduled for a hearing in the House State Affairs Committee, which is chaired by Foote, this afternoon.
