Consumer spending in Colorado and neighboring states “declined slightly” over the last several weeks, but overall economic activity “rose slightly” in the region, the U.S. Federal Reserve System reported Wednesday in its latest six-week "Beige Book" report.
The survey of business leaders charts winners and losers in the regional economy in September and early October, spanning the six-week period ending Oct. 7.
The regional Beige Book covers the Fed's Kansas City-based 10th District, which includes Colorado and some or all of six neighboring states.
The report said that retail sales in the region “increased moderately, while sales in the restaurant, auto, and tourism sectors decreased.”
