The parent of the huge Outdoor Retailer trade show in Utah that Denver has been trying to woo has proposed buying another big event already here: the SIA Snow Snow.

The deal could lead to a combined outdoor-sports trade event offering features of both the Snow Show, which has been held in Denver annually since 2011, and Outdoor Retailer, a twice-yearly event that has been staged in Salt Lake City for two decades.

The news comes as Colorado leaders have been trying to lure Outdoor Retailer to Denver in future years after its contract with Salt Lake City expires in summer 2018. Denver is competing with several other markets.

The Outdoor Retailer summer and winter shows are owned by San Juan Capistrano, California-based Emerald Expositions Events Inc. and sponsored by the Boulder-based Outdoor Industry Association.
