A Delta jet takes off at LaGuardia Airport, August 8, 2016 in the Queens borough of New York City. Delta flights around the globe were grounded and delayed on Monday morning due to a system outage.

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Delta is steering clear of the beef coming from #applegate.

A Denver woman named Crystal Tadlock made headlines across the country after being ticketed $500 for trying to take a free apple from her Delta flight coming from France through US Customs.

False. I did not enjoy the apple. Instead I received a $500 violation, had my global entry revoked (first time Iâve used it) AND I will be searched on every flight for the rest of my life

Tadlock told multiple news outlets how she tried to save the snack in her bag and planned to eat it during the second leg of her trip back to Denver. She said she was randomly searched by customs, with an agent pulling out the apple in a plastic bag with Delta's logo on it.

The apple in question was part of an in-flight meal intended to be eaten on the plane. U.S. Customs has warnings at the entry point and on the declaration form that tells travelers they must declare fruit that is brought into the country. Delta also has videos on its in-flight entertainment system that outlines what customers need to know for customs processing.

Tadlock said her Global Entry status has been revoked and that she plans to challenge the ticket in court.
