The years of big rent hikes in Denver rents appear to be slowing, and it appears that mom and dad are helping out with a lot of their kids' rents.

In the latest report from California property management software company Yardi Matrix, year-over-year rent increased 2.7 percent, the same amount that rents increased nationally over the past year.

Orlando, Florida reported the biggest yearly gain in apartment rents — 7 percent — according to the company.

And Denver rents are expected to grow 3 percent in the coming year, according to Yardi Matrix.

Denver rent increases appear to be slowing partly because of the addition of more than 7,600 new units being added in 2017, the DBJ reported in September.
