An executive of an Oregon theater organization for 17 years was named today as the new artistic director of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts Theatre Company.

Chris Coleman, currently executive director of Portland Center Stage, will assume the same role in Denver in May 2018.

The theater company is DCPA’s dramatic arm, producing original, classic and contemporary plays and hosting the annual Colorado New Play Summit.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Chris into our Denver family,” said Janice Sinden, DCPA’s president and CEO. “His commitment to artistic excellence, community engagement, new play development, crowd-pleasing musicals and discovery of new voices will further the DCPA’s efforts to diversify its audience and resonate throughout the region.”
