Denver's more of a beer city and not a wine city, according to a new report.

Denver's No. 2 in the nation when it comes to beer, according to the study that counted the number of beer retailers and breweries (including craft and microbreweries), and wine retailers and wineries, in the country's largest cities.

"Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) with a population of one million or more were ranked by their concentration of beer- or wine-related businesses per 10,000 residents," according to the report's writers.

Denver didn't make it anywhere near the top of the wine business list.

Portland, Oregon, ranked No. 1 for both beer and wine businesses, according to the study compiled by Nebraska-based business data and analytics company Infogroup. Seattle and Cincinnati were the only two other cities to rank on both the wine and beer lists.
