Denver's Crowe GHP Horwath accounting firm has been acquired by one of the country's largest public accounting firms, Chicago-based Crowe Horwath LLP.

The two firms, which had similar names, were separate, each with their own CEO. But both firms are part of the of Crowe Horwath International network, which is about 200 independent accounting and advisory services firms.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed. The merger is effective Jan. 1, 2017, and the combined firm will be Crowe Horwath LLP, which had $745.2 million in revenue for fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.

Under the agreement, Denver's CEO Nadine Pietrowski, who took the helm of the firm in January 2014 and helped the firm through its re-branding, will be the combined firm's local office managing partner.
