A new Target Corp. store will open on Denver's 16th Street Mall by next summer.

The Minneapolis-based retailer (NYSE: TGT) in a statement announced its plans to open the long-awaited 28,000-square-foot location at California Street.

Target said the new downtown Denver store will have: a grocery assortment, including fresh produce and grab-and-go items; home décor, home office and stationery products; an assortment of apparel and accessories for women and men; health, personal care and beauty products; a selection of entertainment and electronics products; and a CVS Pharmacy and order pickup.

“Target is thrilled to bring our first small-format store to Colorado and be part of a thriving community in downtown Denver. The modern design of our downtown Denver store will showcase unique features for people who live, work and play in this neighborhood, including a third-level glass atrium that offers views up and down the 16th Street Mall," said Mark Schindele, senior vice president, properties, Target, in a statement.
