Ex-Colorado editor to lead California newspapers

Lauren Gustus was executive editor at the Coloradoan for four years, then was named executive editor in Fort Worth in June 2017.

Lauren Gustus, former editor of the Fort Collins Coloradoan newspaper, has been named regional editor overseeing several daily newspapers in California and Idaho owned by The McClatchy Co.

Gustus' appointment is part of a change in management structure for the news division of Sacramento, California-based McClatchy (NYSE: MNI), with with regional executive editors overseeing multiple newspapers.

Gustus will be based in Sacramento and will oversee the news operations of the Sacramento Bee and four other California papers plus the Idaho Statesman in Boise, starting in February.

McClatchy is a national newspaper company focused on California, Washington state and the Carolinas, with news outlets in 14 states. Its larger papers include the Miami Herald, Kansas City Star, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Tacoma News Tribune and Charlotte Observer.
