DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL — David Siegel, a former CEO of Frontier Airlines, appears to have signed onto Sun Country Airlines as executive chairman.

Siegel became executive chairman in April, according to his LinkedIn profile. Eagan, Minnesota-based Sun Country couldn’t be reached for comment on Siegel’s role at the company; Siegel could also not be reached for comment.

Online aviation news publication FlightGlobal first reported Siegel's new role.

Siegel is presently a managing partner at San Francisco-based consultancy TS Capital Partners. But he has deep roots in the aviation industry, spending three years as Frontier’s top executive and leading the Denver-based airline’s transition to an ultra-low-cost carrier business model.

Frontier struggled with passenger dissatisfaction before Siegel's departure in 2015. The number of customer complaints against Frontier led the airline industry in 2014 and rose to levels in February 2015 that were more than seven times the average rate of the 13 largest U.S. airlines.
