Colorado foundations are giving big to charitable causes.
They contributed $816.4 million in 2014, an 11.2 percent increase from 2011, according to a new study released Thursday by Philanthropy Southwest at its annual conference in Colorado Springs.
Most of those contributions were made to organizations within the state — 74.1 percent — while the other 24.8 percent were made in other states.
The report said that Colorado foundations have assets totaling $14.8 billion, an increase of 24.3 percent since 2011.
