Ricoh USA, an imaging and electronics company, has laid off workers in Colorado, part of a 5 percent reduction of its workforce nationally.
Ricoh USA is the U.S. division of Tokyo-based Ricoh Co. Ltd. It employs more than 26,000 people in the U.S. and more than 109,000 worldwide, according to data on its website.
Ricoh has a large production print facility in Boulder, which it purchased from IBM Corp. in 2007. The company also has offices and service centers in Aurora, Littleton, Colorado Springs and elsewhere.
John Greco, a spokesman for the company, said in an email that the company let go of "less than 20 workers" in Colorado, and that the layoffs were a "difficult but necessary decision, made to more effectively address our customers' evolving buying patterns."
