Shepard Nevel has been named president and CEO of Denver-based Jewish Family Service of Colorado, succeeding Yana Vishnitsky.

Nevel comes to JFS from LiveWell Colorado, a nonprofit focused on aiding businesses, schools, local agencies and community groups with wellness programs. He has been its president and CEO since August 2014.

Previously he was an executive with the Colorado Health Foundation. Earlier he was CEO of Jovian P4 LLC, a technology- and education-focused organization founded by businessman Jared Polis, now a U.S. congressman.

Nevel now steps in to lead JFS, a nonsectarian, nonprofit human services agency founded in 1872 that serves metro Denver and Boulder.
