Despite indications that Inc. might release a short list of potential sites for its second headquarters as early as the end of this week, a report suggests that such a cut-down set of candidates might not come until early in the new year.

That’s the word from the Charlotte Regional Partnership in North Carolina, as reported by the Charlotte Observer newspaper.

Officials with the Charlotte agency, which oversees economic-development efforts in a 16-county area, said they were told to expect a short list from Amazon by Friday — a list culled from the 238 bids that Amazon has received from cities and states across North America, including metro Denver.

But now, a Charlotte Regional Partnership spokeswoman says that the agency has been “informed that a short list announcement is now not anticipated until early 2018,” Chase said.
