Noodles & Company has fired its chief operating officer just nine months after the struggling Broomfield-based chain brought on the restaurant-industry veteran to oversee day-to-day operations.

Company officials disclosed in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing that Victor Heutz was terminated on Tuesday, effective immediately.

A spokesman did not elaborate when asked for further comment on why the decision was made.

Heutz came to Noodles (Nasdaq: NDLS) after stints over the past 11 years with Buffalo Wild Wings, Starbucks Corp. and Cold Stone Creamery. His hiring in July came just six days before 10-year CEO Kevin Reddy announced that he was stepping down from his post immediately.
