Sales of Denver-area homes selling for $1 million or more jumped nearly 40 percent last month from a year earlier.

According to data from Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, there were 202 sales of residential properties priced $1 million and higher last month, a 39.3 percent increase from 145 sales during October 2016.

Sales of even more expensive homes jumped last month, too.

There were 33 sales of homes priced $2 million or more last month, compared with 18 in October of 2016. There were eight sales of $3 million-plus homes in October, compared with three in October 2016.

“For the second month in a row, the median sales price of luxury properties has remained level. Coupled with a strong local economy, the leveling in price has led a monumental increase in total sales year-over-year," said Chris Mygatt, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Colorado, in a statement.
