Bellevue, Washington-based T-Mobile (Nasdaq: TMUS) announced the acquisition last month. Terms of the deal haven't been disclosed.

Jeff Binder, CEO of Layer3, will become a T-Mobile executive vice president and will lead T-Mobile's TV team. Other members of Layer3's executive staff are also joining T-Mobile.

Layer3 moved its headquarters to Denver in 2014. It offers a cable-like TV service that uses fiber-optic lines, for about $75 a month.
