A 223-unit affordable housing apartment complex has officially opened in Denver's Five Points neighborhood.
Denver City Councilors celebrated the opening of the Welton Park Apartments near 23rd and Welton on Tuesday.
The building has affordable apartments for low and moderate income tenants.
To qualify, residents must make at or below the median income for the area; up to $33,660 for a one person household or $43,260 for a family of three.
One of the newest residents to the Welton Park Apartments said he was pretty thankful for all of those who made this project happen.
"I think this is a place I can live for as long as I want to," resident Connally Cotton said. "I don't ever feel like I have to worry about a place that I can afford, a place that I can call my home."
The building has studios, one, two and three bedroom units ranging from $450 to $1,250 a month.
According to its website, there are still several are available.
