The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the "suspicious" deaths of three people in Coal Creek Canyon, according to its Twitter.
The deaths in the 800 block of Divide View Drive are being investigated as homicides. The sheriff's office says the investigation suggests each victim suffered a traumatic injury. No suspects have been identified but investigators believe the home was targeted specifically and that there is no general threat to the public. The case is not believed to be a murder-suicide.
#CChomicide UPDATE: 3 individuals found deceased in the residence; 2 males, 1 female. Preliminary indications of trauma to each victim.— BoulderCountySheriff (@BldrCOSheriff) April 16, 2017
Mike Wagner, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said that one or two people who lived at the address had not been seen for several days, so a welfare check was requested at about 7:30 a.m. The man who requested hadn't seen his friends in several days and was worried.
He said deputies and rescue personnel found the bodies of at least two people inside the residence when they arrived.
The area was secured and the sheriff's office is waiting on a search warrant to continue its investigation, which could take a couple hours to obtain.
“One of the challenges up here is the remoteness of this location, lack of cell service, lack of data service,” Wagner said. “It’s a very remote area. It’s actually fairly quiet. I don’t think we get a whole lot of calls for service here.”
Detectives have also requested hazmat to properly check the inside air quality after spotting evidence of drugs, the sheriff's office tweeted.
The identity of the victims and cause and manner of death still needs to be released by Boulder County Coroner's Office.
