A 15-year-old student at a Colorado Springs high school was arrested Tuesday after police say he brought a gun to school.

Authorities first learned about what happened through a School Resource Officer assigned to Mitchell High School. The weapon was found quickly, according to Colorado Springs Police, and the student was booked into the Spring Creek Youth Detention Center.

He faces charges for unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds and unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon.

Police say the incident remains under investigation, and that there is no credible threat to students or faculty at Mitchell High.

It’s unclear why exactly the student brought the weapon to school.
