A man who pleaded guilty to a series of bank robberies in the Denver area has been sentenced to 39 years in prison.

According to a release from the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office, 50-year-old Gary Mark Crider was known as the “Comic-con Bandit” because he wore Star Wars and Marvel super hero masks during the robberies.

The DA’s office says Crider robbed three banks in Jefferson County, one in Boulder County, and one in Adams County in December 2016 and January 2017.

Crider was on parole in Colorado and on federal probation at the time.

Crider pleaded guilty in October to 12 felony counts: two counts of aggravated robbery, nine counts of robbery, and one count of theft.
