Authorities say they’ve arrested a suspect in the death of a woman whose body was found near a road in Clear Creek County last month.

Shawrae Butler, 21, was wanted for first-degree murder in the death of Queen Ashby, a 20-year-old from Aurora.

Butler was arrested at a home in the 4100 block of S. Mobile Way in Aurora on Friday afternoon by the Aurora PD Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team.

Investigators say Ashby was murdered in early April at 1433 Joliet Street in Aurora. Her body was discovered on April 8 near Colorado State Highway 103.

Queen Ashby, 20, was positively identified and notification made to her family.

Police didn’t say how Butler and Ashby knew one another, or what the motive may have been for the killing.

Butler has previous convictions for drug charges and driving under the influence, according to court records.
