KUSA — A man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for beating his now-ex-wife with an AR-15 while their 4-year-old son was asleep in the other room, prosecutors say.

David Guthier, 28, pleaded guilty to first-degree and second-degree assault as well as false imprisonment for the March 17, 2017 attack, the Weld County District Attorney’s Office said.

Police were called to the then-couple’s LaSalle home that day after receiving a report of domestic violence. When they arrived, the victim’s face was swollen, bloody and disfigured, according to prosecutors. Her nose was broken and her pelvis was cracked.

During the ensuing investigation, prosecutors say they found anabolic steroids and syringes in Guthier’s home during the investigation.
