A man is at a local hospital after being stabbed in the neck during a scuffle with several people across from the Denver Skate Park Sunday afternoon, police and witnesses say.
"What it looked like was he was just sitting on the ground," Connor, a witness, said. "I heard some yelling and he hit him with the crutch."
Connor was riding at the skate park with his friend Sterling when he says multiple people attacked the victim.
"He was the only person," Connor said. "He looked like he was getting ganged up on."
The Denver Police Department is investigating the incident which happened at the corner of 20th Street and Little Raven Street at the City of Cuernavaca Park sometime around 2 p.m.
"He was on the ground. He was having a hard time talking, but he was bleeding out of his neck a lot," Connor said. "There was a lot of blood. I was going over to him to see if he was okay and he came over to me then he fell in the street."
Sterling says usually the action around the skate park isn't this violent.
"There's obviously been fights around, but I don't think anybody's, I've ever heard about, gotten stabbed or completely bleeded out or bled out in the streets before," he said.
Investigators are still looking for multiple suspects. According to police, the victim survived and is currently recovering from his neck wound.
"I was pretty freaked out," Connor said. "It was a pretty big deal."
