Students at Southmoor Elementary School got a break from their regular routine to try something new on Wednesday.
More than 65 students took part in the Hour of Code – an introduction to coding event aimed at teaching computer science basics to students.
Organizers of the event, Microsoft Women in Technology (WIT) Denver, say everything the kids want to be when they grow up will involve technology.
“Getting them started at this young age is super important so they can learn and get interested in technology,” Stephanie Martin with Microsoft said.
Wednesday’s event is part of a national Hour of Code movement – a global initiative that over 100 million students from 180 countries have participated in, according to hourofcode.com
