Oregon Governor Kate Brown is set to return to her alma mater — at least for one day.
Brown will deliver the spring commencement address at CU Boulder on Thursday, May 10 at Folsom Field.
Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental conservation with a certificate in women's studies from CU in 1981.
"Governor Kate Brown is a distinguished alumna, and we are honored that she will be addressing graduating seniors and their families," said CU Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano, in a news release. "Governor Brown has been strong supporter of working families and education. She embodies a spirit of public service, and we hope she will inspire our students to lead, innovate and make a difference in the world as she has done."
Brown took office in 2015 and has also served as Oregon's secretary of state and as a state legislator.
"Commencement is the culmination of students' achievements, and a touchstone moment for families who have worked hard to ensure their children have the tools they need to succeed," said Governor Brown, in a news release. "I am honored to join students and parents on this exciting day. My time in Boulder shaped my journey through life and I look forward to being back to share this moment with so many families."
