Colorado hits 75% mark for adult COVID vaccinations

The state has averaged 4,314 vaccinations per day among those ages 12 and older over the last week.

COLORADO, USA — Colorado reached a milestone this week with 75% of Colorado adults receiving at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a news release from Gov. Jared Polis (D-Colo).

More than 3,381,447 of Coloradans 18 or older and 3,628,890 of all eligible Coloradans have been immunized with at least one dose, Polis said.

Over the last week, the state has averaged 4,314 vaccinations per day among those ages 12 and older, and more than 55% of Coloradans ages 12-17 (247,443 people) have received at least one dose.

“This is a pivotal moment for our community as Coloradans continue to make progress in the fight against COVID-19 and dangerous and contagious variants like the Delta," Polis said. "More and more people are getting off the sidelines and protecting themselves. But we need more Coloradans to safeguard their health and the health of their loved ones against this deadly virus so I urge Coloradans to get the safe, effective, and FDA-approved vaccine. Get vaccinated today to protect our progress, safeguard in-person learning for our students, and to help our economy build back better.”

As of Tuesday, there are 3,306,227 Coloradans who are fully immunized.

Colorado previously met President Biden’s goal of vaccinating at least 70% of Americans 18 and older by July 4. Everyone who is 12 years of age and older is now eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Last week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave approval to Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine for Coloradans aged 16 and up.

In Colorado, there are 796 patients currently hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Aug. 30, and there have been an average of 1,405 new cases of the virus per day over the last seven days.

CDPHE data shows that 92.73% of tested COVID-19 samples over the last week were the more contagious delta variant.
