Flu season just got underway and in the first few weeks seven people have already been hospitalized with the flu. Three from Boulder county, two from Adams county and one in both Denver and Douglas counties.
You can help prevent yourself from catching the virus, by getting your flu shot.
There are a few places where you can get the vaccination for free.
North Suburban Medical Center is offering flu shots for free at its Northwest ER in Westminster and its Northeast ER in Thornton.
You can go in between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
South Metro Fire Rescue and DispatchHeath are offering free flu shots at a clinic this Saturday, October 29, at South Metro Fire Rescue's station 34 in Lone Tree.
The clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System is also offering free flu shots to enrolled veterans this Saturday, October 29, at a drive-thru clinic. The clinic will be available at the Denver VA Medical Center's 9th street entrance (located at 1055 Clermont St. in East Denver) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
You can get flu shots at a number of different pharmacies across the metro area.
If you have health insurance, your insurance may cover the vaccination cost so you should check with you insurance.
Here is the list of the pricing at some of the different locations if you're not covered:
