Historic snowfall at the Loveland Ski Area

82 inches of snow has fallen so far this season at the Loveland Ski Area, the most they have ever seen by Nov. 13 in the ski area's 81 year history.

LOVELAND — Loveland Ski Area, Colorado's second-oldest ski area, has had its best early season snowfall in 81 years of business, according to snowfall records kept by the resort.

Loveland sits just east of the Continental Divide about 50 minutes west of Denver on I-70.

So far this season, the area has been getting a lot of snow.

Group sales manager Dustin Schaefer said the ski area has received 82 inches of snow, the most Loveland has ever seen this early,

"In 81 years, this is our best start,” Schafer said. “Last year, we were at 44 inches. Mother Nature dropped another inch last night, bringing us to 82 inches this year."

"We’re rocking and rolling here at Loveland,” he added.

The last time Loveland came close to 82 inches by Nov. 13 was back in 1995, resort records show. That year, they had 80 inches by the same date, and then went on to get 572 inches of snow for the year.
